You know when you find a new product that you love, love, LOVE and you just have to tell the world about it? Yeah, well just telling the world doesn’t even seem to be enough with how much love and appreciation I have for Coco & Blue’s Omega-3 Fish Oil! GAME. CHANGER. When it comes to our current supplements, this is the one I will absolutely not let Abbie and Gunner miss for a single day!
It took me about a month after seeing results on Abbie and Gunner to really start writing this blog post, not because I didn’t like the product or see it working, but because I didn’t know how to put it into words the change that I saw in them. I even emailed Nilou, the owner and founder of Coco & Blue, to tell her that exact thing. In my email, I wrote, “Abbie and Gunner are absolutely loving the fish oil!! I can’t express that enough!! I can’t wait to see more changes in their overall health. I can’t quite explain how I’ve already seen transformations, but I have! They just LOOK better and act healthier/more mobile? Does that make sense?!”
Her reply was sincere and also helped me make sense of what I was seeing! “Yes, fish oil can help with joints and skin problems, so it definitely makes sense to me! It’s a supplement like food, where you can see the effects by using it regularly after a few weeks, just like eating healthy food changes your body and mental health.”
Fish oil can help with internal issues (joints, ligaments, etc) as well as external issues (skin and coat) so it benefits both of my dogs for their designated issues. With Gunner, his skin wasn’t so flakey and spotty! With Abbie’s muscle and ligament issues, she was more mobile and wanted to play more. She was also more lovey, which I figured was a “thank you for helping me feel better!”.
So, if you know anything about us gals, you know that we loooove our supplements! We seriously can’t rave about Coco & Blue enough!! If you’ve watched my stories, you’ll know that the fish oil doesn’t always make it into their food bowl because Abbie and Gunner try to lick it as it comes out of the bottle! Lol. It’s that good!
Okay, I feel like I’ve talked (typed) your ear (eyes) off! Lol. Let’s get to know Nilou at Coco & Blue a little better! We hope you love her and her company as much as we do!
How did you get started with your business?
It all started as my passion project, eight years ago, when I was working as a full-time physician and dog parent to a sweet, Pomeranian named Coco. While there were so many available dog products online, not many of them offered the sleek, long-lasting materials that I felt my little Coco deserved. When I could find quality items, they were scattered across different online sellers and brands.
I started to imagine what it would be like if I created my own little shop by curating the best products on the market. Not only would this make my life more convenient, but it could help other dog parents as well. I finally founded Coco & Blue in August of 2019.
Tell us about your pet(s)!
Coco was my little baby. I raised her all by myself and she gave me unconditional love. She was a happy and friendly dog who would bring smiles to people’s faces! We had a symbiotic relationship. Unfortunately she passed away last year. Blue is our family dog. She’s a little cute blue merle Pomeranian who’s going to be one year old on December 31st. She has a very close relationship with my toddler daughter and I think she’s Blue’s favorite Human. She loves to chew on toys and take off my daughter’s socks.
What and who influences your work?
Coco, who was the first dog that I raised all by myself from puppyhood, was my motivation to bring “Coco & Blue” to life. As she got older, she started developing different health problems and required joint supplements for her pain. After checking the ingredients in many joint supplements on the market, I found out that they include an excess of sugar, artificial flavors, and silicon dioxide. This was unacceptable to me, so I decided to do my own research and concoct the perfect blend of natural ingredients for healthy and effective supplements.
After Coco passed away, we brought Blue into our family. She’s a lively little merle Pomeranian who brings me the energy and inspiration that I need for my business.
What is/are your favorite pet brands and why?
I love products that are unique and that’s why I look for high quality items made by small businesses. All the Brands that we’re carrying in our online shop have something special. Blue wears the Polka Dot canvas collar from Ware of the Dog and a Magenta-Blue step-in harness from EatPlayWag.
2020 has been a female dog… What do you have planned for your company in 2021?
Unfortunately Covid19 had a big impact on everyone’s life including our company Coco & Blue that was launched in the middle of the pandemic in May 2020. We were planning on having our 3 supplements (Omega-3 Fish Oil, Joint Support Supplement & Probiotics) ready by the end of 2020, but due to the logistics, only our Omega-3 Fish Oil is available. Our plan is to launch our probiotics in early 2021, followed by our Joint Support Supplement. We’re also going to add more curated products to our online shop. Our goal is to support other small businesses that are based in the USA.
How can people support you and your business?
I’m hoping that by having a great customer service alongside our great products & supplements approved by dogs, people are going to become repeat customers and tell their friends about us.
Where can people find you (website, social handles, stores)?
We’re an exclusively online store for now. Our website is cocoandblue.com. People can follow us on Instagram & Facebook @cocoandbluestore to have the latest news.
Because fish oil is packed with two essential fatty acids (EPA and DHA), it is highly recommended by vets all over the globe. Coco & Blue is one-of-kind and uses wild caught sardines, herring, mackerel, and anchovies. So you get lots of omega from different sources! AND each batch of Coco & Blue’s Omega-3 Fish Oil is third-party tested to measure toxicity levels and potency. I love when companies have third-party testing because there is no bias or
These omega-3 fatty acids are great for easing inflammation in your pup due to allergies, which means less itchy skin, dandruff, and hot spots (exactly what I’m seeing in Gunner!). It also helps soothe arthritis (Abbie), allergies, and can even improve your dog’s memory. And the supplements make their coat healthy, shiny and perfect for lots of cuddles. I’ve noticed that Gunner isn’t as smelly as he normally is… Also something I give credit to Coco & Blue for!
Luckily, Coco & Blue’s Omega-3 Fish Oil is super easy to give to your pup! Just pour the liquid on top of your dog’s food, and voila! They’re good to go!
Please give this small business a chance because you will NOT regret it! In fact, I expect lots of emails and DM’s thanking me for introducing you to this amazing product! Be on the lookout in 2021 because they’re coming out with a joint support supplement that’s made with vegan chondroitin sulfate which is highly purified and reproducible compared to the animal chondroitin sulfate that can have a variability between batches.
My honest opinion? This company is a MUST-HAVE in your dog pantry.
NOTE: Although Coco & Blue have done a FABULOUS job on packaging with their dark amber glass bottles, be sure to store your fish oil in a cool, dark area to keep it from oxidizing, thus preserving its freshness and nutritional integrity.
