2021 is the year that people are either super optimistic about or they are totally dreading. For us gals, we are extremely optimistic and can’t wait to see what it brings! The pet industry was BOOMING last year. Dog adoptions were at an all time high. We got to spend almost every day with our precious fur babies. 2020 had a lot of crappy things in it, but we want to focus on the good that came from it.
Going into 2021, we know there are things that we will need to survive. You could say that this is the Gal’s Best Friend 2021 Survival Checklist for you and your dog. It ranges from things you’ve wanted for a while to things you didn’t know you needed! So let’s dive in!
- New Rebel Dawg Tag
Spicy and festive dog tags for every mood and season you can possibly think of. Keep your dog, not only safe with your contact information, but stylish with Rebel Dawg tags. Consider this the charm to your dog’s collar that spruces up their “look” and definitely sparks conversation and jealousy from other dog moms.
- Fi Series 2
One of a dog mom’s worst fears is losing their best friend. That is why everyone should have a GPS collar. There are a few on the market but our favorite is Fi because the battery life lasts anywhere from 1-3 months compared to others who last just a few days (and the last thing you want to worry about when your dog gets away is how much battery you have left). We also love the activity tracking, which helps you hit your goals each day, week, and month by making sure that your pupper is getting their steps in and staying active. Use code GBF25 for $25 off. Learn all about Fi here.
- A subscription to DogTV
DOGTV is the only technology created for dogs with sights and sounds scientifically designed to enrich your dog’s environment. DOGTV is a 24/7 channel with programs scientifically developed to provide the right company for dogs when left alone. Through years of research by some of the world’s top pet experts, special content was created to meet specific attributes of a dog’s sense of vision and hearing and supports their natural behavior patterns. The result: a confident, happy dog, who’s less likely to develop stress, separation anxiety or other related problems.
- Pumpkin Care
Having dogs is the greatest joy in the world and yet it is also the most expensive joy in the world! Holla if you feel me! We highly recommend having either pet insurance or a wellness plan for your dogs because things add up quickly. We love Pumpkin Care because they are very helpful and very easy to use! Learn more about Pumpkin here.
- My Ollie and Nulo Dog Food
Food might be the most important thing for our pets’ health and one of the things that most pet parents are uninformed on. A few years ago, a documentary came out called Petfooled, and it was extremely eye opening! We highly recommend everyone watch it and to seriously take a deep dive into what you are feeding your pup! We love My Ollie, which is a human-grade fresh dog food, and Nulo, which is a high-end kibble. Basically, if you can’t pronounce what is in the bag… don’t give it to your pup! You can learn more about OIlie here and get 50% off your first box, and learn all about Nulo here!
- Homescape Pet
In a nutshell, Homescape Pets offers air-dried, species appropriate, single ingredient chews and limited ingredient wellness products for adult and senior dogs (and cats). Good health isn’t complicated all thanks to them! All of our dogs go absolutely crazy for these healthy chews!
- New Bed from Yeti
New Year, new bed! We love to switch up our dogs beds every year or so, one for the comfort and two for our home updates! This year we are crazy about the new bed from Yeti and so are our dogs, yes it is a bit on the pricey side, but if you ask us, totally worth it!
- New Canada Pooch gear
Canada Pooch has some of our favorite coats, jackets, sweaters and more for your dog. We are also obsessed with their dog walking gloves, they are perfect for any dog mom that lives in the cold and spends about 5 minutes trying to open a poop bag! These are GOLDEN!
- Matching Mask and Bandana from The Paws Co.
Unfortunately, face masks are not going away in 2021, y’all. I know we’re all ready to be done with them. Fortunately though, we have The Paws Co to give us super cute options!! I love the fabric choices and that there are two different styles to choose from for the masks. So, if we have to wear them, we might as well match our dogs with cute patterns. Be sure to support small businesses and like-minded dog moms.
- Meet Maev Supplement Bars
Not only is their branding ON POINT and speaks to us on so many levels! But it is also run by two badass dog moms who decided that there had to be better for our dogs! Meet Maev is a mix of raw dog food, bone broth, and vitamin bars that address hip and joint, stress and anxiety hair and skin as well as weight and digestion. Everything is made with human-grade ingredients so we are 100% comfortable feeding our babes this day in and day out.
- Gear from Noble Friends Shop
We think every gal needs something with their pup plaster on it and also believe that it needs to be done in class, that is why we always turn to Noble Friend Shop! Whether it is a swimsuit, backpack, mask, blanket, workout pants or just a pillow… you need it all!
- New Toys from Playology
Playology created all-natural scented toys that dogs love. And guess what? They’re not just about scent! They really care about our doggos’ overall health and that is why they created their toys from 100% natural sources! Even at the micro-level, the encapsulation is in a natural gelatin, which means there are no harmful chemicals! Literally our dogs’ favorite toys! The more they chew, the more taste they get out of the toy! Seriously, make sure Playology is on your MUST-HAVES list this year!!!
- Leash and Collar set from Saint Rue
Calling all fashion-obsessed dog moms! Saint Rue is everything we ever needed. Not only is it like taking a walk in Paris with your pup but the badass babe behind the brand is a fellow dog mom and blogger @wtfrenchie!! Saint Rue has everything from leashes and collars to the stylish City Mini, which we believe EVERY dog mom needs!
- Monthly donations to a Rescue organization
2020 was the worst for everyone, and it especially hit rescue organizations hard. Most of these depend on 100% of donations to run and when 2020 hit everyone hard and people had to make cuts to survive, donations were one of the first things to go. If you can, please donate to a rescue of your choice, we have a long list on our site here, and a guide on our instagram page here. Anything helps, donating just $5 a month can make a HUGE difference in some of these organizations and save a life.
- Wisdom Panel
Okay, this one might be the most fun on the list! Not only does the Wisdom Panel tell you what breeds make up your dog’s DNA, it also tells you any health issues that they have or that might come up with in the future. We have used both DNA tests on the market and the Wisdom Panel gave us so much more information on the breeds of our dogs as well as their health statuses. Learn more about the Wisdom Panel here.
- Kradle CBD
I knew very little about CBD when it first came out in the pet world and I was always a little nervous to try it. Honestly, it was because I was just not educated on it. Kradle calming CBD for dogs works naturally with your pet’s biology to reduce their stress without diminishing their personality. My dogs are all nervous wrecks and I have tried everything under the sun and Kradle is one of the ONLY things that truly works for us. You can learn more about Kradle here.
It’s true, everyone loves getting mail and this is the same for your puppy! Every month when our Bark Box comes, our pups lose their minds, I swear they can read the words Barkbox on the package… blows my mind every time! Bark is always on top of their game when it comes to treats and trendy toys. Hint- this makes great content for Instagram (wink, wink)! Sign up your pup today HERE!
- B&B Kustom Kennel
B&B Kustom Kennels took shape after the owners, Brody and Bethany Rathman, adopted their 8 month-old Labradoodles, Gracie & Pyper. The couple quickly realized that they could not leave their canine companions in the house all day while at work. After destroyed drywall, chewed shoes, and frayed rugs, it was evident that they could also not leave them inside unattended all day, either. How many dog moms totally relate to this?! I know I have! Gunner was an INSANE puppy who enjoyed destroying things. B&B Kustom Kennels is the perfect edition to any home makeover you have planned this year! When people come over to our house, they ALWAYS mention how beautiful our dog kennel is, even if they aren’t dog owners!
- Cruelty- Free Beauty Haul
This is the year we are going FULL on cruelty-free with our beauty products! There are so many amazing brands that are making the switch over and so many small companies that are leading the way! You can see a full list of everything you need from hair and body to face and nails here!

You know you have said you are going to do this but you just never get around to it! TRUST us, it is worth it! Having professional photos of you and your dog that will last a lifetime is one of the more precious treasures you will have. We have made a guide of some of our favorite photographers that we have worked with and trust here!
